Organizing Committee

Université de Bretagne-Sud, with its decade-long reflection on heritage and its creation of a Heritage studies department, is deeply committed to research in maritime issues through human and social sciences.

The CNRS (French national research centre) Mixed Research Unit n° 6258 (CERHIO-Western France historical research centre), and its Lorient team specialized in the Social Sciences of the Coasts and the Sea, will supervise the organization of this seminar. It is a founding member of the Scientific Interest Group on Maritime History.

The DRASSM (French department of underwater and undersea archaeological research) manages the underwater and undersea heritage of France. As a component of the heritage office of the Ministry of Culture, it is concerned in all archaeological research which uses diving for missions ranging from expertise, inventory, protection, research to information about maritime heritage.
