The Internet of Things (IoT) is a difficult concept to define precisely. There are many different definitions, each definition shares the idea that the Internet is a network of people and data, while Internet of Things is a network of anything at anytime and anywhere. The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) thought Internet of Things development is of great significance to the telecommunication industry and will challenge existing structures within established companies, and form the basis for entirely new opportunities and business models. My team has deployed an IoT system to China Meteorological Administration to observe conventional meteorological elements such as air temperature, humidity, wind velocity, wind direction, rainfall, air pressure, and etc. In this talk, I will give a brief introduction to IoT, then I will describe some key techniques adopted in our Meteorology IoT. Meanwhile, I will list some difficulties we encountered in IoT implementation. These difficulties may need help from statistics, approximation, image processing, and etc.
